A lesson on the 1066 succession crisis that examines the claimants to the throne. This is lesson 1 in my series of lessons on The Norman Conquest.
Students will examine the relationship between King Edward the Confessor and the Witan before looking at the sucession crisis and the four claimants to the throne. Students then create a set of Top Trump cards and decide who had the best claim to the throne, finished with a write up task.
All of my lessons are designed to last at least 60 minutes, however they can be adapted to fit the ability of your class.
