Lesson 8 - Elizabeth's Portraits

A lesson on Elizabeth's portraits. This is lesson 8 in my series of lessons on Elizabethan England. This can also be delivered as a stand alone lesson.

Students will study how portraits were used as a form of Propaganda in Elizabethan England. Students will explore how Elizabeth looked and therefore carefully controlled her image. There is a task with a portrait decoder that ends by looking at The Armada Portrait followed by a extended writing task. There is also an optional creative task at the end.

All of my lessons are designed to last 60 minutes, however they can be adapted to fit the ability of your class.
